Do Women Truly Have Less Than Optimal Outcome Post-Heart Transplantation Compared to Men

چکیده
PurposeIt has been reported from the ISHLT registry that women have less optimal outcome after heart transplantation (HTx) compared to men. It is not known whether this difference due rejection, NF-MACE, or decreased survival.MethodsBetween 2010 and 2020, we assessed 1071 HTx patients divided them by male female sex. 309 females 762 males were included in study. Post-transplant outcomes 1-year survival, freedom cardiac allograft vasculopathy (CAV, stenosis ≥30% angiography), non-fatal major adverse events (NF-MACE: myocardial infarction, new congestive failure, percutaneous coronary intervention, implantable cardioverter defibrillator/pacemaker implant, stroke), rejection (acute cellular [ACR], antibody-mediated [AMR]), de novo DSA production. Women into two groups, sensitized (PRA >10%) non-sensitized.ResultsWhen comparing men, had similar CAV, but significantly lower ATR, AMR, who survival production non-sensitized women. 26% of our sensitized.ConclusionMajor post-transplant are for However, sensitization may be reason more AMR it does affect short-term outcomes. Longer follow-up impact these need assessed. survival. Between non-sensitized. When sensitized. Major

Do elderly women have more physical disability than men do?
This study investigated whether the commonly observed higher prevalence of physical disability among women is due to higher incidence rates or to other factors such as selective mortality or poor recovery. Methods included observed measures of prevalent lower body physical disability and potential risk factors at baseline (1989-1991) and 4-year follow-up of 2,025 community-dwelling adults aged ...
متن کاملSteeplechase barriers affect women less than men.
Women began contesting the 3000 m steeplechase during the 1990's using barriers of different dimensions than men. Whenever a new event is introduced for women, consideration should be taken as to whether different technique or training methods should be utilized. This study investigated three aspects of hurdling technique: 1) Differences in the ratio of the landing step to the penultimate step ...
متن کاملWhy women are less likely than men to commit suicide.
Major depression forms the background of upwards of half of all suicides. Women are twice as likely as men to experience major depression, yet women are one fourth as likely as men to take their own lives. Current and past explanations of this paradox are built on androcentric assumptions that women are deficient in some way. The reverse may be true where suicide is concerned. Men value indepen...
متن کاملWhy do women live longer than men?
In the contemporary United States, males have 60 percent higher mortality than females. In Part I, published in the previous issue, we showed that 40 percent of this sex differential in mortality is due to a twofold elevation of arteriosclerotic heart disease among men. Major causes of higher rates of arteriosclerotic heart disease in men include greater cigarette smoking among men; probably a ...

In all the species of nonhuman primates for which data on sex differences in the frequency of yawning are reported, males yawn much more than females (Bertrand 1969; Deputte 1978; Goy and Resko 1972; Hadidian 1980; HA and DeVore 1965; Redican 1975; Rinaldi 1985; Wolfheim and Rowell 1972). This différence has been related to sexual dimorphism in canine size: The larger size of male canines may m...
